Kirinyaga Woman Representative Jane Njeri Maina sharply differed with those plotting to oust CJ Martha Koome

Kirinyaga Woman Representative Jane Njeri Maina sharply differed with those plotting to oust Koome, saying she had done nothing out of her mandate as the head of the Judiciary.

Judiciary under Martha Koome has been under siege from the Executive and a section of Kenya Kwanza administration loyalists.

This is after the Judiciary ruled against the president Ruto pet projects inluding the affordable housing levy.

Despite Maina’s support for the Affordable Housing project, she was firm that Koome must be accorded the independence the constitution bestows on her to deliver her mandates.

“I saw the other day someone filed a petition to remove Chief Justice Martha Koome from office. We love her, and she is doing her work. Let her do her work. “I’m a lawyer, I respect the institution and independence of the judiciary. Regarding the order done by Lady Justice Mugweru, when we resume parliamentary sitting on February 13, we will make sure the NADCO report is a priority,” she said.

The lawmaker lauded the Affordable Housing project, saying not only was it allowing the ordinary mwananchi to afford decent houses, but it was also creating jobs for millions of skilled Kenyan youths.

“I want to ask those people opposing the affordable housing program, where do you want the women and youths employed under the scheme to go? “Will they give them jobs? The President came up with this project because he is thinking about tomorrow,” she stated.
