Mudavadi breaks silence over what he discussed with Uhuru at a private meeting

Mudavadi says his discussions with Former President Uhuru Kenyatta centered on William Ruto's ascension to power

Mudavadi says his discussions with Former President Uhuru Kenyatta centered on William Ruto’s ascension to power.

On Saturday, July 8, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi ended his silence over the discussions he had with former President Uhuru Kenyatta on May 30 in Nigeria.

The former Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader said during a funeral in the Ikolomani Constituency that they had discussed President William Ruto’s inauguration and the handover ceremony that took place at Kasarani Stadium on September 13, 2022.

Mudavadi claims that Uhuru said he handed over to the victor and wondered why Raila Odinga was unhappy with the election results.

“Our brothers in the opposition keep on complaining. I once met Uhuru in Nigeria and also met him in Bujumbura (in Burundi) and Uhuru said that he had already handed over power.

“He is the chairman of Azimio and he says he already gave over the reins of power. Do you think there was anything wrong with him handing over? That is a clear answer that he recognized who the winner was,” he divulged.

Additionally, Mudavadi urged the opposition to follow suit and give Ruto time to carry out his development agenda.

The former deputy prime minister also urged Raila and his supporters to support the government in resolving the problems that Kenyans face.

This was the first time that Mudavadi was speaking publicly about the widely circulated photos from the May 30 meeting.

On May 30, Uhuru and Mudavadi met in Nigeria while attending President Bola Tinubu’s swearing-in ceremony.

Mudavadi was representing Ruto at the event.

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta was invited in his official capacity as the leader of the African Union (AU) election observers.

Following the meeting in Nigeria, the former Head of State shared photos of the meeting but did not divulge details about what was discussed.

Contrary to Mudavadi’s version of events, some of Ruto’s allies assert that the former President continues to undermine Ruto’s leadership.

Recently, digital strategist Dennis Itumbi alleged that Uhuru orchestrated the Saba Saba demonstrations.

According to the communications expert, Uhuru played a central role in planning mass protests in different parts of the country after meeting Azimio MPs in a private meeting.
