Mudavadi office moved to Railways Station sparking reactions as President Ruto issues first Executive Order.
In his first Executive Order, President William Ruto outlined the structure of his government.
Executive Order No. 1 of 2022, which replaces Executive Order No. 1 of 2020 issued by former President Uhuru Kenyatta, assigns institutions and functions to Ministries and State Departments.
According to the Executive Order, Musalia Mudavadi, the nominee for Prime Cabinet Secretary, will work out of the Kenya Railways corporate offices.
The most recent development puts an end to rumors that the leader of the Amani National Congress party would move into the Harambee House Annex.
There have been reports that Musalia Mudavadi would inherit the ‘powerful’ Harambee Annex office with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua shifting to work on the other side of Harambee Avenue at Harambee House.
The Prime Cabinet Secretary’s office won’t have an office in Harambee House or its annex, but it will fall under the Executive Office of the President.
Additionally, the Executive Office of the President will include the President’s and Deputy President’s offices, which will be located in Harambee House and Harambee House Annex, respectively.
The President and his deputy will also have the luxury of using the State House and Karen residence, respectively, as their offices.
Reactions as Mudavadi office moved to Railways
The move to Kenya Railways headquarters off Haile Selassie Avenue moves the former vice president and deputy prime minister far away from Harambee Avenue which plays host to some of the most powerful offices in the land.
Haile Selassie Avenue is known for incessant noise emanating from public service vehicles and commuter trains terminating at the Nairobi Central Railway Station.
However, the move to allocate Mudavadi the office along Haile Selassie Avenue has elicited varied reactions.
