Fresh details have emerged on the death of Human Resource Manager Willis Ayieko as the deceased brother opened up on how they found his body.

Ayieko’s tragic fate was confirmed on Wednesday, October 23, several days after he went missing after attending a burial in the North Gem location.

Days after he went missing, his car –  a Ford Ranger – was discovered abandoned on Tuesday, October 22 in Sabatia, Vihiga County.

With more questions than answers on the late Ayieko’s death, his brother shed some light on what they witnessed when they made the painful identification of the body.

“We went with my brothers to look for him. We wanted to see the last place where the vehicle was stopped,” he said, adding that Ayieko did not have most of his clothes.

Ayieko’s brother further debunked reports that the murder was a case of a robbery gone wrong, adding that the deceased’s body was severely mutilated, indicating a possible vendetta against the Human Resource Manager.

He added, “He was cut. Eyes were gorged out, ears were cut, nose was cut, the mouth was cut. Why die such a painful death?”

They also dragged his body on a rough surface.

The deceased’s brother also revealed that the nature of the crime was gruesome.

According to his friends, they were to leave a burial in a convoy of vehicles, but he insisted on leaving ahead of them in a decision which proved fatal.

Ayieko’s death has left his family in distress, with one family member urging members of the public to come forward with any information which can lead to the arrest of the individuals involved in his death.

“We are calling on anyone with information that could assist in this investigation to come forward,” one family member said on Wednesday.  “Every lead is crucial at this stage,”

CCTV footage has since emerged showing two suspects abandoning Ayieko’s vehicle at a petrol station. Authorities strongly believe the two men are linked to the murder.

Preliminary findings from detectives indicate the two men in possession of his car disabled his dashcam on Friday, October 18 – the same day he went missing. This was a deliberate move to hide their identities.

After dumping the car, the two men did their best not to raise their heads as they fled the scene – indicating they were fully aware of the possibility of CCTV cameras around. They also opened the car bonnet at the petrol station to trick attendants into thinking the vehicle had developed mechanical issues.

Meanwhile, Ayieko’s body has been moved to the Aga Khan Hospital Mortuary for preservation pending an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
