Ngilu resurfaces after election loss in the August general elections as she reiterates her support for Raila’s mass protests.

Former Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu made a political reappearance on Wednesday, April 5, following a seven-month absence.

Ngilu addressed the protests against the government being led by the Azimio alliance in her first political speech after the general election on August 9, 2022.

The former governor also explained her decision to leave politics while she was present for the funeral of real estate mogul Pius Musembi Kivindu in Sultan Hamud, Makueni County.

“Some leaders are saying that they cannot see Ngilu and it is true you cannot see me.

“But I want to say that those who are asking about my whereabouts, started demonstrating just the other day while I have inhaled teargas since 1992,” she revealed why she had taken a break.

Ngilu revealed that although she would not be taking part in demonstrations, she supported Azimio’s push for reforms in the country.

“I see what you are doing Kalonzo and I want to encourage you to soldier on since that is the right direction,” she endorsed the anti-government position.

Ngilu further accused President William Ruto-led government of hoodwinking Kenyans.

“As Azimio, we had a clear roadmap on what we were going to do should we win the Presidency.

“Others said as soon as they put down the Bible, maize flour price would reduce to Ksh70,” she threw a jibe towards Ruto.

Ngilu added that the bipartisan approach dialogue should be transparent so that Kenyans can know what was being discussed.

Attendee and Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka echoed Ngilu’s views on the necessity of transparency during the discussions.

“We do not have a problem with the parliamentary system, we will give our list on Thursday, April 6, of the members who will take part in the bipartisan approach team.

“But what we must emphasize is that there be sincerity from both parties so as to benefit all Kenyans,” Kalonzo emphasized.

Azimio is set to hold its Parliamentary Group meeting on Thursday, April 6 in Machakos County to discuss the bipartisan approach suggested by President William Ruto in addressing the political stalemate.

On the other hand, according to the Leader of the Majority in the National Assembly Kimani Ichung’wah, Kenya Kwanza’s PG is set for Tuesday, April, 11 when it will announce its list of representatives.
