Ruto makes another appointment as he continues to reorganize his government with poll losers Kiraitu Murungi and Waihiga landing State jobs.

In the most recent round of parastatal appointments, President William Ruto appointed former Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi and former presidential candidate Wahiga Mwaure to a State post.

Mr. Murungi was named chairperson of the National Oil Corporation of Kenya board for a period of three years.

Kiraitu Murungi, a veteran politician from Meru, lost his governor’s seat in the August 2022 election to Kawira Mwangaza. 

Following the election, President Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza Alliance welcomed Mr. Murungi’s Devolution Empowerment Party (DEP).

Mr. Murungi is also a member of the Kenya Law Reform Commission (KLRC).

Former presidential candidate and leader of the Agano party David Mwaure Waihiga has been named chairperson Trustee of the National Environment Trust Fund board for a period of three.

The President has also appointed former Tharaka Nithi Governor Samuel Ragwa as the chairman of the National Cereals and Produce board for a period of three years.

Richard Cheruiyot has been appointed chairperson of the Export Processing Zones Authority, while Kimathi Mbogori Kigatiira is the new chairperson of the board of the Kenya Veterinary Vaccines Production Institute.

Former Makueni deputy governor Adelina Mwau has been appointed chairperson of the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) board.

UDA lawyer Adrian Kamotho Njenga has been named the chairperson of the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) while Ndirangu Gichinga was named the chairperson of the Insurance Tribunal.

Ruto also appointed his lawyer Adrian Kamotho to the Capital Markets Authority (CMA).

In a Gazette Notice, Treasury Cabinet Secretary Njuguna Ndung’u appointed Ruto’s Lawyer Adrian Kamotho as the Chairman of the Capital Markets Tribunal.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 35A (1) (a) of the Capital Markets Authority Act, the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury appoints Adrian Kamotho Njenga to be the Chairperson of the Capital Markets Tribunal,” read part of the Gazette Notice.

Kamotho was appointed for a term of three years, with effect from Thursday, April 20, 2023, to 2026.

Kamotho was one of the 57 Lawyers who represented Ruto during a Presidential Petition in which Azimio la Umoja Leader Raila Odinga challenged his win.
