DP Rigathi Gachagua says leaders should not be angry at him for forgiving those who wronged him

DP Rigathi Gachagua says leaders should not be angry at him for forgiving those who wronged him.

Speaking on Sunday in Meru, Gachagua noted that he assumed office in 2022 as a “very bitter” person because he had been wronged.

He said leaders should not have a problem with him forgiving people who had wronged him in the past.

“I Rigathi Gachagua was badly wounded before the elections, I was humiliated and persecuted. I came into office a very bitter person. But my wife prayed for me and within one year, all the bitterness was gone and I was a healed person,” he told Faithful in Meru County.

The DP said he has since forgiven anybody who may have wronged him and asked for forgiveness from those he had hurt.

“I do not know why anybody would have a problem if I forgive my brother, my sister,” Gachagua stated.

In March, the DP extended an apology to Mama Ngina Kenyatta, the mother to former President Uhuru for the rift that occurred in 2022.

Gachagua expressed remorse over the disrespectful behaviour exhibited towards Mama Ngina during the heightened political activities of the last general election.

The DP pledged to work towards fostering unity and healing the wounds of past political rivalries, stressing the need to uphold respect for elders.

In May, he expressed willingness to work with the former President.

The DP said that the election period was over and they should work together to benefit Kenyans.

Gachagua said by uniting, they shall develop the region and the country.

“Uhuru Kenyatta is our son, he should come so that we unite, is that okay? Do you have a problem with him? The election period is over,” he told a rally in Kirinyaga.

Over the weekend, Gachagua appealed to all leaders to embrace forgiveness saying the bible emphasizes it.

“Is there anything wrong with us forgiving one another? That is what practicing Christians should do,” he added.

He asked MPs and MCAs in Meru to forgive Governor Kawira Mwangaza if she had wronged them.

“Similarly, Kawira, if MPs and MCAs wronged you, just remember that you are the mother of this country, forgive them so that we can be able to move forward,” he said.

The DP added that leaders should learn to forgive each other because politics is temporary.
