Homa Bay Member of Parliament Peter Kaluma on Wednesday, January 11 listed 10 demands and concerns of the people in his backyard ahead of President William Ruto’s visit.
On Friday, January 13, 2023, Ruto is anticipated to begin an extensive tour of the counties in Luo Nyanza.
In his statement, Kaluma said that Ruto would be welcomed by local leaders who would inform him of other needs.
“President Williams Ruto is set to visit Nyanza this Friday. He’s welcome. Local leaders will be at hand to receive him and present the needs and concerns of the people,” read the statement.
Kaluma in his 10-point demands communicated that the residents needed infrastructure funding and land extension for the Tom Mboya University further urging the fast-tracking of the Kabunde Airstrip.

The ODM MP further listed the concerns of the people including; Water provision and sewerage system in Homa Bay Town, Homa Bay County Referral Hospital Elevation, Homa Bay Town Constituency TVET and Lake Victoria Ring Road construction.
This will be Ruto’s second tour to the Nyanza region, since his inauguration in September 2023.
Ruto in October visited Homabay where he pledged to transform the fishing industry, the cotton sub-sector, and several infrastructural projects including roads and water.
He also committed to working with Nyanza and pledged that no region across the country would be left behind.
