ODM MP Caleb Amisi addresses reports of supporting Gachagua after attending opposition rally

Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has denied reports of supporting former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua after making an appearance at a rally organized by the opposition leaders.

In a statement on Friday, July 4, Amisi maintained that Gachagua was not an option he would back in the next election.

He added that Kenyans should not interpret his attendance at the Kitale rally as a shift in his political allegiance.

According to the ODM MP, he was only at the rally to welcome the leaders.

“I repeat, Rigathi is not an option. Are we together? Welcoming wantam to Kitale is not equal to supporting Gachagua,” Amisi stated.

“Western is voting against Ruto. It is not voting for Gachagua. Our candidate is coming.”

The ODM MP had attended the Kitale rally that was organized by opposition leaders, including Gachagua, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, and former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i, among others.

Unlike his colleagues in ODM, Amisi has been critical of Ruto’s popularity among Kenyans ahead of the polls.

The MP expressed that many Kenyans were not happy with the current regime and would vote them out in 2027.

“Renaissance in Kitale! It was massive. Organic and ready to roar! I love you Kitale. Wantam is the song,” he stated.

“Na niliwawarn! (I warned you). Kenya needs a renaissance.”
