Pakistani national rescued from irate mob in Nakuru after conning locals
A Pakistani national narrowly escaped death in Nakuru after an irate mob attempted to lynch him over alleged fraud before police officers intervened.
In a statement on Sunday, September 7, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the suspect, identified as Ahmad Shabbir, was rescued by officers from Nakuru North Sub-County after residents accused him of conning them through false pretences.
“A team of law enforcement officers from Nakuru North Sub-County have rescued a Pakistani national, Ahmad Shabbir, from an irate mob baying for his blood after he allegedly swindled members of the public out of their hard-earned money through false pretences,” the statement read.
According to DCI, the incident followed reports that the man had been surrounded by residents demanding justice.

Police officers rushed to the scene and managed to save him, although his alleged accomplices managed to escape.
“Shabbir’s arrest followed reports of a man being surrounded by an angry mob in Nakuru, demanding justice. Quick intervention by police officers saved him from a mob attack. However, his two accomplices managed to flee from the scene,” the statement added.
Investigators say Shabbir is no stranger to fraud-related cases and had previously been arrested in Ahero. He was reportedly out on bond but continued with his alleged schemes.
“Preliminary investigations show that Shabbir and his accomplices are linked to similar fraud cases in the area. It was also established that Shabbir was out on bond from Ahero Police Station, where he had previously been charged with obtaining money by false pretences.
“He had been ordered to report back to the station on August 20, 2025, but instead continued with his fraudulent activities,” the statement further read.
The suspect is currently in custody as detectives pursue his accomplices, who remain at large.
