National Police allay fears men seen chanting and singing in the vernacular in Baringo were bandits.
The National Police Service has allayed fears among the members of the public after a video clip went viral showing armed men walking and chanting in Tangulbei, Baringo.
Some quarters were disturbed by the matching of the men holding their firearms in the country ridden with banditry attacks, mistaking them for the bandits.
They were chanting and singing in the vernacular as they brandished their firearms while moving past the puzzled onlookers.
Coming clean, the NPS said the men were police reservists, and they were partaking in recreational activity in the course of the training.

“Contrary to the online portrayal and perception regarding a video clip currently circulating on social media, of men singing and matching in civilian clothes while armed, the National Police Service wishes to inform, reassure and further clarify to the members of the public that these are the National Police Reservists engaging in their recreational exercise as part of their ongoing training in Tangulbei, Baringo County,” the NPS said in a statement on Saturday, April 13.
The police said the men yet to be kitted with the proper uniform were on their way to their training grounds from their residences.
Walking after them were their instructors seen wearing tracksuits.
The National Police Reservists who are part of the National Police Service undergo six weeks of training before being deployed to aid in security operations.
