Terror suspect arrested in Eastleigh, Nairobi
Detectives from the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) have arrested a woman suspected of soliciting and providing support to a terrorist group in an intelligence-led operation in Nairobi's Eastleigh area.
According to a statement released on Friday, November 21, by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Asho Kassim Hassan was apprehended at her hideout along Major Muriithi Street in Eastleigh following targeted intelligence gathering.
During the arrest, detectives recovered a passport and a mobile phone from the suspect.
Both items have been handed over to forensic analysts for detailed examination as investigators work to identify and map out the wider network to which Hassan may be connected.
The suspect is currently in police custody, undergoing processing ahead of arraignment in court to face terrorism-related charges.
The DCI emphasized its commitment to protecting the nation through coordinated security efforts.
"Through intensified intelligence operations, enhanced inter-agency coordination, and sustained community partnerships, the DCI remains steadfast in safeguarding the country and ensuring that every Kenyan can go about their daily lives without fear," the statement read.

This arrest comes two days after a deadly attack on security forces in Garissa County that left two police officers dead and five others injured.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, November 19, when their vehicle struck an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) along the Liboi-Kulan road.
The officers from the Border Patrol Unit were conducting routine patrol operations when suspected militants from the Somalia-based terrorist group Al-Shabaab detonated the explosive device targeting their Land Cruiser.
One officer was killed instantly at the scene, while a second succumbed to injuries sustained in the blast. The five wounded personnel are currently receiving medical treatment.
Security forces have since intensified operations in the area to pursue the attackers and strengthen surveillance along the border corridor.
Authorities continue to urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the relevant security agencies.
