The President assented to the Births and Registration (Amendment) Bill, 2024, the Pyrethrum Repeal Bill, 2024, and the Social Work Professionals Bill, 2023 at State House, Nairobi.
The Births and Registration (Amendment) Bill, sponsored by Martha Wangari, provides for the establishment of at least one births and deaths registration office in each sub-county.
The move is expected to enhance accessibility and efficiency in civil registration services across the country.
The Pyrethrum Repeal Bill, introduced by Kimani Ichung’wah, seeks to eliminate regulatory duplication and inefficiencies in the pyrethrum sector, streamlining oversight and boosting productivity in one of Kenya’s key agricultural industries.

Meanwhile, the Social Work Professionals Bill, sponsored by Joshua Kimilu, establishes the Institute of Social Work Professionals and the Social Work Professionals Board, which will regulate the social work profession and promote professional standards for practitioners across the country.
“With the assent of these Bills, the three Acts now form part of our laws and statutes, advancing our national development,” the statement from State House read.
The enactment of the legislation comes as part of the government’s wider agenda to strengthen public service delivery, improve governance, and ensure professional regulation in critical sectors.
