Ruto nominates former presiding bishop of CITAM David Oginde as Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission-EACC chair.

President William Ruto has, on the recommendation of the Public Service Commission, nominated Bishop David Oginde, immediate former presiding Bishop of Christ Is The Answer Ministries (CITAM), for appointment as the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission Chairperson.

The Public Service Commission had recommended the appointment of three persons; Bishop David Oginde, Professor Kivutha Kibwana, and Amani Yuda Komara.

David Oginde will fill the EACC Chair vacancy following the retirement of Archbishop (Emeritus) Eliud Wabukala who retired on January 17, 2023. 

Wabukala was a former Head of the Anglican Church in Kenya and served as EACC Chairperson for six years.

Oginde is the former Presiding Bishop of Christ is the Answer Ministries (CITAM) and is also the immediate former Chancellor of Pan Africa Christian (PAC) University.

“Bishop Oginde is highly respected at home and abroad for his strong reputation in forthrightness, integrity, and his tireless efforts towards the promotion of ethics and virtue in society,” read the statement in parts.

According to Ruto’s Chief of Staff Felix Koskei, if approved, Oginde’s appointment will give Kenya a demonstrable champion for deepening a value-based culture in the nation.

Oginde holds a Ph.D. in organizational leadership from Regent University School of Business and Leadership, USA.

He also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from the University of Nairobi. 

The bishop pursued Biblical Studies at the Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (Trinity International University) Illinois, USA.
