PS nominee Faith Njeri Harrison denies claims President William Ruto revoked her nomination

PS nominee Faith Njeri Harrison denies claims President William Ruto revoked her nomination.

Former Principal Secretary nominee Faith Njeri Harrison denied allegations that President William Ruto had withdrawn her nomination on May 31.

Njeri claimed in a statement that she voluntarily withdrew as a nominee for the PS in order to pursue personal interests.

On May 16, Ruto proposed her for the position of Performance Management PS at the Prime Cabinet Secretary’s office.

However, nearly two weeks later, President Ruto appointed Anne Wang’ombe to the same position in a mini reshuffle.

According to Njeri, the ongoing reports of her corruption cases were false and misleading. She explained that the charges against her were doctored by the previous regime under former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

She added that she was not in possession of fake US dollars, as reports alleged. The former Kiambu County Executive Committee member also accused former Director of Criminal Investigations boss, George Kinoti, of using the disbanded Special Service Unit (SSU) to falsify the charges.

In a statement from the DCI in 2019, Njeri was accused of traveling in vehicles with fake registrations and carrying fake US dollars in the company of another county employee.

“She has never been involved in corruption matters, and she was never arraigned in any court of law and has no pending matter (s) in court as she was cleared by relevant agencies,” read part of the statement.

The former Kiambu CEC warned those spreading false information about her nomination and criminal record to cease tarnishing her reputation.

However, while dropping her from the list of nominees, Ruto did not offer any explanations, raising more speculations on his decision.

Njeri worked as the Chief Finance Officer of Kiambu County under former governor Ferdinard Waititu.
