PS Omollo censures Raila over expulsion of rebel ODM MPs for working with government yet he followed Ruto to Mombasa for a night meeting.

Opposition leader Raila Odinga allegedly accompanied President William Ruto to Mombasa late at night for a covert meeting, according to Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo.

While calling out the Orange Democratic Movement for expelling Luo MPs who have been associating themselves with the head of state, the PS said the ODM leader also met the president with no consequences.

Omollo questioned why MPs and other community leaders weren’t more severely penalized or deterred from meeting with Ruto.

“The truth of the matter is we can sometimes elevate our leaders to the point that they begin to look down upon us. We have been enslaved by some people who think we don’t deserve to be anything,” a hard-hitting Omollo said.

The PS said that the president met the MPs on his visits to the area, which he claimed were made in order to spur regional development.

Citing Raila’s meeting with Ruto last month in Mombasa, Omollo argued Ruto means well for the Luo community and should be allowed to meet with its leaders for the betterment of the electorate.

“Raila even followed him to Mombasa in the middle of the night. That is the truth, and time has come for us to tell our people the bitter truth so that our region can develop. Aren’t we seeking power to bring development to our people?” he posed.

As a PS, he said he is a government official who is mandated to serve every Kenyan and it is a worrying concern that even MCAs from the opposition party are banned from meeting him for whatever reason.

“Those who met me from Kisumu, Homa Bay and Migori were reprimanded. The truth is, the leadership of the party has no respect for the people of Luo Nyanza,” he said.

“We have supported them for far too long that they now disrespect us as a people,” he said.

The PS claimed that the ODM leadership under the former prime minister had taken the support and loyalty of the Luo nation for granted.

“We have become their slaves for the longest time. We have elevated some of us to a level they now look down upon us,” he said.

“We have agreed to be their slaves to a point where they nolonger believe we are worth anything of value. It is time we told ourselves the truth if we want any meaningful change and development as a community,” Omollo noted.

Omollo remarks come after Raila’s ODM party expelled some of the legislators from Luo Nyanza who are working with William Ruto administration.

Among those who were expelled from the party included Langata MP Felix Odiwuor aka Jalang’o, Caroli Omondi (Suba South) Gideon Ochanda( Bondo), Elisha Odhiambo ( Gem) and Kisumu senator Prof Tom Ojienda.

Some of the nominated MCAs from Kisumu, Homa and Migori were also affected.
