Raila is not the enemy but the people, Ruto warned over Azimio protests

Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi advices Ruto to treat the Azimio protests called by Raila with the seriousness they deserve

Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi advices Ruto to treat the Azimio protests called by Raila with the seriousness they deserve.

Ngunyi weighed into ODM leader Raila Odinga’s massive crowd that accompanied him to Nairobi’s Central Business District on Friday during Saba Saba march.

In a tweet, Ngunyi appeared shocked at the multitude the Azimio had in defiance of chilly morning and police threat.

The crowd, in total defiance of police pushback at all points of entry to the CBD, braved tear gas and water cannons and matched on towards Central Park, the final destination where Raila had been expected to deliver a final address.

The analyst said the crowd carried a significant message on the real situation in the ground adding that such cannot be mobilised using financial resources.

“Dear Ruto: This picture scared me. It is a ground swell. You cannot buy these multitudes. And you can kill the messenger, but not the message,” he tweeted.

He went on to warn that Ruto should not pay attention to Raila as an obstacle to his administration saying it is the people who should be his number one focus.

“The enemy is not Raila. The enemy is the People. These people have nothing to lose except their chains. Don’t be casual,” he added.

In another warning shot, Ngunyi gave Ruto a case example of France warning him that revolutions start small.

This, he said, will later culminate into a bigger one that will be difficult to contain.

“Revolutions are started in small instalments – Little by Little. Then they acquire a life of their own. Today, France is burning. In 1789, when the French people asked the Oligarchs to drop the Price of Bread, they told them: “…If you can not eat bread; eat cake” Dear Ruto…, “he stated.

Raila massive crowd on Friday during the Saba Saba protests marked a big milestone in his push against Ruto regime.

The protests were distributed across the country with Azimio Leaders leading separate events countrywide.

Raila also announced that the demos will resume Wednesday next week.
