Raila lashes out at ‘witches’ behind false rumours on Orengo’s health

ODM leader Raila Odinga has sharply criticised individuals who spread malicious rumours and wished death upon Siaya Governor James Orengo when he was out of the country for more than one month.

Speaking at Ndori Primary School grounds in Gem, Siaya County, during a fundraising event for the Church of Christ in Africa (CCA), Odinga denounced the behaviour as primitive and likened the perpetrators to “witches.”

He expressed dismay over the false claims that Orengo had resigned, labelling the propaganda as deeply irresponsible.

“I was in constant communication with Governor Orengo throughout his time abroad and don’t understand the motives behind those who circulated such misinformation,” said the ODM leader.

“Orengo has returned to the country in good health and is more energised than ever.”

Calling for unity and focus, Odinga urged the people of Luo Nyanza to shift their attention from divisive politics to development.

He stressed that the period leading up to 2027 should be dedicated to progress under the broad-based government.

The ODM leader reaffirmed his commitment to attracting investors to the region and encouraged residents of Gem Constituency to support the upcoming operations of Shanta Gold, a mining company that is preparing to begin gold extraction in the area.

Governor Orengo, who was also present at the event, echoed Odinga’s sentiments and called for the strengthening of the ODM party nationwide.

He noted that despite their participation in the broad-based government, the party must remain resilient and united.
