Raila outlines pushback against Ruto’s administration over what he termed as a dictatorship and non-adherence to the rule of law.

Azimio leader Raila Odinga has announced a plan to resist the administration of President William Ruto.

Mr. Odinga said the country was in serious trouble and Kenyans must wake up to the “sad state of affairs”.

The former prime Minister leader spoke when, together with other Azimio leaders including Wiper party boss Kalonzo Musyoka and his Narc Kenya counterpart Martha Karua, they accompanied Jubilee officials to the party’s headquarters after obtaining court orders against the Registrar of Political Parties Office nod to the hostile takeover of by “rebels”.

Raila cited multiple reasons for the coalition’s pushback, including what he called a war against multiparty democracy, the deterioration of living conditions, an education crisis, non-adherence to the rule of law and constitutionalism, a compromised justice system, and the unilateral constitution of the electoral body.

“There is an all-out push by the Kenya Kwanza regime to kill other parties, buy and co-opt members of Parliament into its ranks and intimidate and bully all those that resist the administration’s illegal, unconstitutional, and anti-democratic maneuvers,” Raila said.

He also noted that the assault on democracy is being financed by taxpayers’ money, which he said should be used for life-and-death matters like hunger and education.

He cited the continued deterioration of the living conditions, noting that at no time in the country’s recent history have Kenyans lived through so much hunger, desperation, frustration, and anger while the government “focuses on politics of survival and revenge”.

Raila criticized the government’s focus on the politics of survival and revenge, which he says is causing continued deterioration of living conditions.

The ODM leader also criticised the Director of Criminal Investigation and Director of Public Prosecution, accusing them of undermining justice.

On his part, under siege Jubilee secretary general Jeremiah Kioni said there have been attempts to hijack and destroy the party.

“They are using subsidy funds to buy hungry MPs and to destabilise parties including Jubilee. We want to thank those within the Judiciary who still believe that there is a country and institutions must be seen to be free and fair,” Mr Kioni said moments after taking office following an order by the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal.
