Raila secretariat releases list of 41 lawyers ahead of Supreme Court battle challenging presidential results released by IEBC.
The complete list of lawyers who will represent Raila Odinga and his running mate, Martha Karua, in the presidential petition has been made public by the spokesperson for the Raila Odinga Presidential Secretariat, Makau Mutua.
According to a statement from Mutua dated Wednesday, August 24, the legal battalion will see to it that Raila’s plea to the Supreme Court is successful.
“We are pleased that our Presidential Election petition has buoyed the spirits of Kenyans that justice will prevail and that they did not cast their ballots for Azimio in vain,” the statement, signed by the secretariat spokesperson Makau Mutua reads.
“We have assembled the best team of lawyers in Kenya,” the statement continues as it breaks down who does what in the team.

Siaya governor-elect, Senior Counsel James Orengo, will be the lead counsel for the team and will be assisted by Senior Counsel Pheroze Nowrojee, SC Philip Murgor and SC Okong’o Omogeni.
Paul Mwangi, Raila Odinga’s longtime lawyer, is in charge of the case management team, which also includes Jackson Awele, Julie Soweto, Velma Maumo, Prof. Ben Sihanya, Fred Orego, Dan Maanzo, and Tom Macharia.
Lawyers Tony Moturi, Dr. Judy Oloo, Celestine Opiyo, Arnold Oginga, Barbara Malowa, Addah Awiti, Justus Jura, Leonard Okanda, Plister Omondi, and Winnie Makaba are also on the team.
The secretariat also unveiled a group of more than 20 attorneys who will be assisting the group in attempting to have the results of the most recent elections nullified.
They include; Jerusah Michael, Deborass Bubi, George Ouma, Edward Ambala, Geoffrey Sore, Naila Salim, Tabitha Wathuti, John Njomo, Jacqueline Njoroge, Speranza Nywaira, Kinyua, Hannington Amol, Ndegwa Njiiru, Mathews Okoth, Kennedy Wanyanga, Kevin Katisya.
Professor Makau Mutua, Dr Adams Oloo, Caesar Vanjao and C.N Kihara will be consultants on the petition legal team.
Raila Odinga filed a petition challenging the declaration of William Ruto as the president-elect.
