Raila Odinga unveils the seven Azimio member team to face UDA in the bipartisan parliamentary engagements.

Azimio leader Raila Odinga has unveiled the seven members who will face the team from Kenya Kwanza for bi-partisan negotiations at parliament.

Narok Senator Ledama ole Kina and his Nairobi counterpart Edwin Sifuna are among a team of seven legislators who were picked by Azimio for bi-partisan parliamentary engagements.

Others in the list sent by Kanu party secretary of political affairs, Fredrick Okango are Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua, Amina Mnyanzi (Malindi), Millie Odhiambo (Suba North), David Pkosing (Pokot South), and Otiende Amollo (Rarieda).

The team was picked during the Azimio la Umoja parliamentary group meeting in Machakos County.

The ODM boss chaired the meeting which was also attended by the coalition’s top leadership including Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

Azimio picked the team of seven following the faction’s agreement to call off demonstrations and engage with the government side on four issues they had raised.

President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza is yet to release its list of parliamentarians to engage with Azimio.

In the meeting, the Raila-led faction reiterated the need to have the team expanded outside parliament as they maintained that they were not interested in sharing the government.

Meanwhile, Azimio also resolved to eject nominated Member of Parliament Sabina Chege as its Minority Whip in the National Assembly.

The Coalition, however, did not immediately replace the former Murang’a Woman Representative in the highly-contested position.

Sabina had long been castigated for declaring her support for the Kenya Kwanza administration during her visit to the State House on January 28, 2023.

In the meeting, Sabina called on citizens to support President William Ruto and back Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua as Mount Kenya’s Kingpin.

“When we support Gachagua from the ground then he will be much respected even up there. You all know I was an Azimio diehard but just as I respect leadership, I also respect the decisions you made through your votes and that’s why you saw me in State House the other day,” she implored.
