Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s bodyguard Maurice Ogeta has been abducted by suspected to be police officers.

Confirming the news was Raila Odinga’s communication director Phillip Etale who said that the unknown people are believed to be police officers and have taken him to a unknown location.

According to Etale, Ogeta was taken by the officers who were in plain clothes and claimed they are believed to be from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

He said Ogeta was abducted while he drove to work on Wednesday morning before they drove him to an unknown destination.

“Unknown people in plain clothes suspected to be police officers from the DCI have abducted Raila Odinga’s bodyguard Maurice Ogeta while driving to work, bundled in him in the car boot and driven away with him to unknown destination. His whereabouts remain unknown,” said Etale.

An official from the police confirmed that Ogeta was among those targeted for arrest and detention.

He had been trailed to his house in Langata, the official added.

The arrest comes even as some Azimio leaders are reported to have gone into hiding over fears of arrest.

Also arrested by the police is Makadara MP George Aladwa who was arrested on Tuesday evening near Kilimani area after jetting in from Mombasa.

According to Etale, Aladwa had attended a meeting with Kenya Rural Roads Authority before his arrest after landing in Nairobi.

“Makadara MP George Aladwa was arrested last evening near Kilimani area moments after jetting into the City from Mombasa where he and other MPs from Nairobi had been attending a meeting with KeRRA. His whereabouts remain unknown,” said Etale.

The news comes hours after Embakasi East MP Babu Owino was arrested at JKIA shortly after his arrival from Mombasa.

This comes after withdrawal of security detail attached to Azimio leader, Raila Odinga, Martha Karua and Kalonzo Musyoka.

Others who have had their security withdrawn is Mama Ngina Kenyatta, Governor Gladys Wanga and Anyang’ Nyong’o of Homabay and Kisumu and host of Azimio MPs.
