Reprieve for Kenyans as EPRA reduces fuel prices

EPRA (Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority) reduces fuel prices for the period between December 15, 2023 and January 14, 2024

EPRA (Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority) reduces fuel prices for the period between December 15, 2023 and January 14, 2024.

The Energy and Petroleum Authority (EPRA) has announced fuel prices that will be in place for the next one month, between December 15 and January 14, 2024.

EPRA reduced the prices of Super Pretrol by Sh5, while diesel and Keronese have been reduced by Sh4 in the latest review. 

In a statement on Thursday, EPRA set the price of Super Petrol at Kshs.212.36 in Nairobi, while Diesel and Kerosene will retail at Ksh201.47 and 199.05 respectively.

β€œThe maximum allowed petroleum pump price for Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 by 𝐊𝐬𝐑𝐬.πŸ“.𝟎𝟎, 𝟐.𝟎𝟎 and πŸ’.𝟎𝟏 per litre respectively,” the statement read in part.

The prices announced in the new review represented a drop coming on the back of concerns raised due to the high cost of the basic commodities.

This comes after Kenyans have been grappling with the increasing prices throughout the year when the prices reached an all-time high of Ksh217.36 for a litre of petrol in October.

Previously the prices stood at Ksh217.36, Ksh203.47, and Ksh203.06 for petrol, diesel, and kerosene respectively.

The reduction in fuel prices as Global fuel prices have significantly dropped since October with international benchmark Brent Crude dropping to $70 per barrel.
