Ronaldo sends a message to ten Hag ahead of the League opener against Brighton

Ronaldo sends a message to ten Hag in Manchester United training ahead of the League opener against Brighton on Sunday.

Cristiano Ronaldo has informed Erik ten Hag that he is prepared to participate in Sunday’s Premier League opener involving Manchester United against Brighton.

The 37-year-old has been pushing to leave Old Trafford all summer, but no suitors have emerged despite Jorge Mendes, his agent, initiating negotiations.

Ronaldo spent the majority of the summer practicing alone in Portugal after missing much of United’s preseason due to family responsibilities.

He returned last week to rejoin his colleagues in training, and on Sunday he participated for 45 minutes in United’s final preseason match against Rayo Vallecano.

Erik ten Hag, one of the players that departed Old Trafford before the final whistle, was not pleased with Ronaldo’s behavior.

During his news conference on Friday, Ten Hag referred to this as “unacceptable,” but emphasized that it was unjust to single out Ronaldo for the incident.

Ronaldo is available for selection this weekend, and the Daily Mirror reports that, according to sources at Carrington, the 37-year-old has been “flying” in training.

According to the report, Ronaldo has informed Ten Hag that he is fit enough to play against Brighton on Sunday.

In an Instagram post on Saturday evening, Ronaldo also signaled to supporters that he is willing to play for United as he posted a picture from last weekend’s friendly against Rayo Vallecano with the caption ‘ready’.

Ten Hag already faces a selection dilemma ahead of his first official game for United as he is without Anthony Martial to lead his attack.

The French forward is sidelined with a hamstring injury, which means Marcus Rashford could deputise through the middle, or Ronaldo could start despite his lack of minutes during pre-season.
