President William Ruto close allies criticise the ODM party over the expulsion of lawmakers working closely with the Kenya Kwanza government

President William Ruto close allies criticise the ODM party over the expulsion of lawmakers working closely with the Kenya Kwanza government.

United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Cleophas Malalah in a statement on his X account on Wednesday, September 6, accused the Raila Odinga-led party of dictatorship.

He said the opposition party dined its members the freedom of thought and association.

“Orange Dictatorship Movement (ODM) where Democracy, freedom of thought and association is a capital offence,” Malalah stated.

Nandi senator Samson Cherargei termed ODM’s decision as political, conmanship, intimidation and blackmail, something he said must end.

He wondered why no action had been taken against Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka for attending the state dinner at State House, Nairobi.

“Double stand by Azimio-OKA/Tinga is unprecedented and hypocritical because Kalonzo was in the state house yesterday where before him, my law lecturer, Sen. Prof. Ojienda, Jalango and others visited, they have been expelled; will Kalonzo also be expelled from Azimio-OKA / wiper party for going to state house yesterday? Tinga has met Ruto several times. Will he also be expelled from ODM/Azimio-OKA ?

This political conmanship, intimidation, and blackmail must come to an end,” Cherargei said.

Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale said the affected lawmakers should not be worried as the decision to expel them was a small matter. “Small matter. This Senator and MPs will remain in office until the end of their term in 2027,” Khalwale said.

This comes after on Wednesday the ODM Party NEC expelled MPs; Phelix Odiwuor Kodhe (Lang’ata), Elisha Ochieng’ Odhiambo (Gem), Caroli Omondi (Suba South), Gideon Ochanda (Bondo) and Tom Ojienda (Senator of Kisumu County) for associating with and supporting activities of a rival political party.

The committee also accused the five of opposing lawful decisions made by the ODM party organs and directed their names to be removed from the party register.

“Members facing allegations of violation of Article 11 (1) (e) of the party constitution and section 14A of the Political Parties Act 2011 by openly associating with and supporting activities of a rival political party and opposed lawful decisions/resolutions made by the party organs, be deemed to have resigned from the party.

“The party is hereby directed to commence the process of removing them from the register of the party,” the party organ stated.
