Ruto ally, Mike Sonko hits back at Uhuru over his response to the president on the tax evasion claims

Ruto ally, Mike Sonko hits back at Uhuru over his response to the president on the tax evasion claims.

On January 31, Uhuru Kenyatta broke his silence on reports that the government was planning to target his family, deepening the gulf between him and President William Ruto.

The Kenya Kwanza regime was irked by Azimio leader Raila Odinga’s protest rallies, with President Ruto’s allies claiming they were being funded by Uhuru as the debate rages on.

Former Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko joined the debate warning the former president that he was powerless.

Sonko reminded Uhuru that he was no longer in office and was not in a position to intimidate Kenyans.

“Those of you who went to mourn Prof George Magoha, stop giving us lectures. I stated it, and I’m repeating it now if a crown falls it becomes steel.

You have no power of intimidating anyone in this country anymore,” he warned.

Revisiting claims that Uhuru had been evading taxes, he echoed Ruto’s words and urged Uhuru to honour his tax obligations.

“Pay taxes and stop talking. Some of us moved on a long time ago and we left it to God,” he uttered.

Sonko warned the former head of state to be on the lookout, claiming that the lives of all Kenyans who suffered during his tenure would haunt him.

“Be completely silent… Wait and see,” he warned.

On Tuesday, January 31 while condoling with the family of the late Prof Magoha, Uhuru told off Kenyan Kwanza leaders who had accused him of evading taxes.

Uhuru’s remarks came after a section of Mt Kenya politicians demanded a probe into his business dealings for the past 10 years.
