President William Ruto has said he has agreed with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to shun politics that divide the country

President William Ruto has said he has agreed with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to shun politics that divide the country.

Addressing a rally in Kisumu on Saturday, Ruto said they would keep off politics that threaten the unity of the Kenyan people.

“Raila Odinga AKA Baba and I have agreed that the old type of politics, politics of dividing people, and tribal politics will be a thing of the past. We will leave it behind, unite, and become one thing,” he said.

The President thereafter asked Kisumu residents for their blessings in his new relationship with Raila.

“Do you want us to unite? Do you want us to work together? Do you want us to cooperate?” he posed.

Ruto added that he constituted a broad-based government with the view of uniting all Kenyans.

“I constituted a Cabinet that will unite all Kenyans without looking at political alliances, communities, tribes, or parties because we are one; people of one nation with a common destiny,” he stated.

“Did we do anything wrong when we agreed to work together? Do we proceed to unite the entire country?”

He added that the East African Community is rallying behind Raila for the African Union Commission chairperson seat.
