Ruto dodges a question by BBC news anchor Waihiga Mwaura "Find Another Question"

President William Ruto on Wednesday, June 5 dodged BBC news anchor Waihiga Mwaura's questions in a heated interview

President William Ruto on Wednesday, June 5 dodged BBC news anchor Waihiga Mwaura’s questions in a heated interview.

Waihiga questioned President Ruto on his decision to participate in the South Korea-Africa summit in Seoul, despite his declaration last year that he would not attend such summits between Africa and other foreign nations.

President Ruto had earlier argued that these summits offered limited time for engagement, indicating a preference for the African Union to represent the continent in such meetings.

Upon being asked the question, Ruto stated that he had answered that question on multiple occasions, asserting he would not elaborate any further.

“Please find another question. Unless you have a particular answer you want, which unfortunately I can’t give you,” he said.

The BBC news anchor, determined to elicit a response from Ruto, rephrased his question, asking whether Ruto’s policies, which are consistent over the years, are dependable.

Ruto claimed that his policies are trustworthy, citing them as the foundation for Kenya’s global respect.

Earlier on April 2023, the head of state, said the 54 African heads of state would not be able to honour summons by foreign leaders, stating that a conversation with some presidents settled at a maximum of seven representatives.

Ruto further stated that African heads are mistreated on foreign continents, stating that they also deserve to make decisions that trigger respect from other officials.

However, on January 28, Ruto left the country accompanied by his spouse, Racheal Ruto, to join the other 20 heads of state for the Italy-Africa summit.

President William Ruto’s visit to Italy and now South Korea has contradicted his statement when he promised to let African Union officials represent the continent in international matters.
