Ruto responds to Former President Uhuru Kenyatta after he criticized his government over Jomo’s house raid in Karen.
After receiving criticism from his predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta for the raid on his son’s home, President William Ruto reiterated on Saturday, July 22, his commitment to upholding Kenyans’ rights.
Speaking in Kisii County, where he unveiled a number of programs, Ruto retaliated at Uhuru, maintaining that his responsibility to protect all Kenyans overrides his predecessor’s duty to protect his family.
Ruto also sustained an argument that Uhuru is funding Azimio demonstrations called for by Azimio leader Raila Odinga.
“Just the same way you go out of your way to protect your children and provide for them, I also have a responsibility of protecting the children of the rest of Kenyans” Ruto stated.
“You love your children so much that you send them to Arusha, Europe, and other places, yet you make the children of other people carry stones and destroy property,” he added.
In addition, Ruto vehemently resisted Uhuru’s attempts to reclaim control over the Jubilee party stressing that he, too, had a vital role as one of the Party’s founding members
He stayed steadfast in his determination to work with the faction headed by nominated MP Sabina Chege and EALA MP Kanini Kega.

During his speech, Ruto also lamented that the protests were portraying Kenya in bad light citing an earlier conversation Wang Yi, a high-level Chinese diplomat who expressed concerns over the direction the country is taking.
“Now the Chinese diplomat is asking me how they can continue partnering with us because we are destroying roads and the Nairobi Expressway which they have built.
Ruto’s remarks came one day after Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers raided Uhuru’s eldest son home in Karen.
The move attracted the wrath of the former president who quickly rushed to the residence and dared his successor to stop intimidating his family and face him directly.
“Come for me. What does my mother have to do with anything? What does my son have to do with anything?” he wondered.
