President William Ruto will on Thursday morning witness the swearing-in of 19 Cabinet Secretary nominees he picked to head various ministries.
President William Ruto has formally appointed 19 of his 20 Cabinet nominees following their approval by Parliamen on Wednesday.
The formal appointment is contained in a gazette notice dated August 7, 2024.
“In exercise of the powers conferted by Article 152 (2) of the Constitution, I, William Samoci Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint [the following] to be Cabinet Secretaries of the Government of the Republic of Kenya,” the gazetted notice reads.
Those appointed are Kithure Kandiki, Soipan Tuya, John Mbadi, Justin Muturi, Aden Duale, Alice Wahome, Julian Ogamba, Davis Chirchir and Rebecca Miano.
Others are Hassan Joho, Alfred Mutua, Murithi Muuga, Salim Mvurya, Debra Barasa, Kipchumba Murkomen, Opiyo Wandayi, Margaret Ndung’u, Wycliffe Oparanya and Dr Andrew Karanja.

The Committee on Appointments rejected Ruto’s nomination of Stella Lang’at as the nominee for the Gender Ministry saying she failed to demonstrate adequate understanding of the docket.
Following the gazettement, President Ruto will on Thursday morning witness the swearing-in of 19 Cabinet Secretary nominees.
The 19 will be sworn in at State House, Nairobi from 9 am, a media invite by Press Secretary Emmanuel Talam shows.
The event will come just hours after the National Assembly approved a report tabled in the House by the Committee on Appointments on the approval of Ruto’s Cabinet nominees.
The committee endorsed 19 of the 20 nominees put forward by the President.
