Ruto hands Mudavadi more powers tasking him with overseeing performance management across all ministries, state departments, and state agencies.

President William Ruto has granted Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi more powers in a dispatch sent by the Executive Office of the President on Tuesday, February 28.

The move came as a result of the review of the Financial Year 2021/2022 Performance Contracting Cycle of all ministries and departments in the government.

The Cabinet emphasized that a performance management function was necessary to maintain responsibility given the unsettling situation in the country.

“This is expected to entrench productivity as the Administration’s mantra while also enhancing accountability.

“To realize this objective, the Administration’s first contracting cycle will crystalize the ministerial priorities approved during the Cabinet retreat held at the beginning of the year,” the statement read in part.

This came after they learned the current state of the drought and the assistance being provided to students through the school feeding program.

The Administration gave primary importance to stopping banditry attacks and cattle rustling in the North Rift region.

In the educational sector, the Cabinet approved starting early preparations for the KCSE, KCPE, and KPSEA exams in 2023.

Cabinet ordered that no learner will be turned away from school due to a lack of school uniform as long as they are wearing their primary school uniforms as Grade 6 students transfer to Junior Secondary Schools (JSS).
