Azimio reveals plans by Ruto to increase the number of court of appeal judges in order to accommodate Wafula Chebukati.
According to Suna East MP Junet Mohammed, the Kenya Kwanza government is planning to extend the number of Courts of Appeal judges to accommodate former electoral body chair Wafula Chebukati.
Junet said there is a plan by President William Ruto’s government through a miscellaneous amendment to increase the number of appellate court judges from 30 to 37.
“This whole expansion is just meant to create space and a soft landing for Chebukati for what he did for the government in the August 9 polls,” Junet said.
The Azimio legislator said while the move was commendable to help in getting justice for Kenyans, it shows the extent Ruto can do to undermine institutions.
“Ruto and his administration have destroyed other institutions and are keen to do the same with the judiciary. If Chebukati is given the court of appeals judge slot it will be the end of the judiciary which lacks objectives,” he said.
He said there is no Kenyan who will be confident to have his case before Chebukati as a judge.
Junet at the same time called out Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu for failing to upgrade and sustain the hundred percent transition championed by the late officeholder George Magoha.

“The transition for junior secondary is a big problem to Machogu, he has failed to do what Magoha did and is out to destroy a whole generation,” Junet said.
The Ministry of Education has established that close to 400,000 students who were expected to join Form One and Junior Secondary School (JSS) are yet to report to school.
Already the ministry has started a multi-agency team, which includes officers from the Interior Ministry, have launched a mop-up operation to ensure the students join their respective schools.
Junet was speaking at Suna East constituency offices in Migori town where he was distributing bursaries worth Ksh30 million to over 2,500 needy secondary and tertiary level students.
