Ruto recalls TWO of Uhuru’s appointees (Kennedy Ogeto and Agnes Odhiambo from retirement for state jobs.

President William Ruto, on Thursday, March 23, appointed former Solicitor General Kennedy Ogeto and ex-Controller of Budget Agnes Odhiambo to the government. 

In a press statement, State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed said that Mr. Ogeto was appointed as an advisor of legal services within the Executive Office of the President.

The former controller of the Budget, Agnes Odhiambo was appointed to head the Government Delivery Service.

President Ruto explained that the appointments aligned with enhancing service delivery to Kenyans.

“As the implementation of the administration’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) continues apace, His Excellency the President has amplified the governance and delivery function within the President’s Executive Office.

“The governance and delivery functions will augment the existing institutional framework and aim to promote accountability, transparency, productivity, and openness in the management of public affairs not only within the executive office but also across all State Organs and Agencies,” read the statement in part.

In addition, Kansa Nzai Munyika was also appointed an advisor for political affairs.

Kennedy Ogeto served as the solicitor General under former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration. 

He was replaced by Shadrack Mose who took an oath of office on March 20.

Agnes Odhiambo on the other hand also served as the chairperson of the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) board. She was appointed to the position on May 15, 2020.

The newly appointed head of Government Delivery Services was the first holder of the Office of Controller of Budget and served for eight years.

She was replaced by Margaret Nyakang’o in 2019.

The appointments made by President William Ruto are among some of the changes effected in government as he fully constitutes his administration.

Notably, the two of Uhuru’s appointees landed government jobs hours after 50 Chief Administrative Secretaries (CASs) took an oath of office.
