Ruto goes bare knuckle on Raila Odinga after the Azimio leader issued a 30-day ultimatum for the conclusion of talks.

President William Ruto has vowed to send Azimio la Umoja Leader Raila Odinga back to his rural home in Bondo, Siaya County.

Speaking on Saturday in Nyeri, Ruto said the former Prime Minister will go to Bondo even without realizing it.

“The only remaining job I have is to send Raila Odinga back to Bondo, actually he will go without even knowing it,” said Ruto.

Ruto ruled out the possibility of doing a handshake with Raila saying the fresh bipartisan talks will touch on issues affecting Kenyans.

“The time for competitive politics and positions for leaders ended in the last election. No handshake. The work ahead of us is about the needs of the people,” the president stated.

Ruto at the same time urged Nyeri locals to give his administration time to deliver his promises.

“We are ready to work with everyone, our main work is to deliver what we promised the people of Kenya which include roads, good education, fertilizer and lower the cost of living,” Ruto added.

Ruto’s remarks came moments after Raila Odinga issued a 30-day ultimatum for the conclusion of bipartisan talks.

Speaking in Gem, Siaya County, on Saturday, August 5, during the burial of protesters, Raila Odinga has threatened to return to street protests in 30 days should the intended talks between the opposition and the government fail.

“We have given the ruling government up to October 30, to engage us in constructive talks that will restore sanity in the Country,” Raila warned, adding that he would give the next course of action after the ultimatum elapses.

Raila gave the government 30 days to lower the cost of living, consult the opposition on the reconstruction of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), and create the official office of the opposition, among other demands.

“We have given the team, which is being added by Kalonzo Musyoka, the opportunity to speak with those from the other side. This should not be seen as a weakness,” Raila stated.
