President Ruto confirms two choppers available to DP Gachagua amid claims he’s frustrated in terms of logistical support.
President William Ruto on Sunday, June 30, dismissed claims that his deputy Rigathi Gachagua was frustrated in terms of logistical support.
This was after claims that the Deputy President had on occasion been denied a chopper to attend official events.
Explaining that this was not the case, Ruto remarked that he had made available two police choppers for his deputy.
He further revealed that he was not accorded the same privilege by former President Uhuru Kenyatta when Ruto served as his deputy.
“I made sure my deputy whenever he needs transport and it is available, he is facilitated,” he explained.
“In fact, what I have done is that I have repaired and made available two police choppers the same size as mine that I use from the military for my deputy to use.”
Ruto explained that at times, Gachagua uses the presidential chopper when his assigned helicopters are in use.
On whether there were cracks within the Presidency, Ruto remarked that there was nothing big that could not be solved internally.
The President explained this after he was asked during a round table interview whether he and his deputy were reading from different scripts in regard to handling displeasure expressed by Kenyans over the current state of the government.

“On the issue of maybe discord, that is an in-house matter. We will sit down and work it out. Since my DP is not here, I think it is wrong to insinuate that he has a different view from mine,” he stated.
Gachagua had earlier alleged that President William Ruto was receiving disjointed briefs from the National Intelligence Service (NIS).
The President further remarked that Gachagua was actively involved in running the government.
“My first action when I came to office was to set up cabinet committees and appointed the DP to chair. There is no govt business that is prosecuted by the cabinet that does not start at the committee chaired by the DP,” he explained.
“I wanted the DP to have clear roles and responsibilities and to participate fully in government management and programs.”
