Julius Malema criticism of President Ruto puts him thrust him into the division with the Kenya Kwanza supporters.

Malema, the leader of the left-leaning Economic Freedom Fighters party in South Africa, has been criticizing President William Ruto for his views on pan-Africanism and for breaking campaign pledges.

Speaking to the Kenya Young Parliamentarian Association on Friday, November 10, in Nairobi, Malema noted that the president’s supporters now see him negatively due to the facts he has revealed about Ruto’s leadership thus far and how he (Ruto) conducts himself in the international arena.

The outspoken lawmaker criticized Ruto for not truly embodying true Africanism.

He used the president’s position on the Israel-Palestine dispute as an example.

Malema questioned Ruto’s decision to support Israel in the face of attacks on civilians, drawing comparisons between the pain experienced by Palestinians and that of Africans.

He claimed that Ruto was at odds with himself over the ideals of pan-Africanism.

“The ones (supporters) of Ruto are not happy with me. Because I asked why would you claim to be a Pan-Africanist because Pan-Africanism is necessitated by the fact that we are an oppressed and dejected nation, as Africans. That everyone rejected should find sympathy in us; Palestinians have been isolated and killed in their own land, just like Mau Mau here in Kenya, then Ruto says he is with Israel, how do you say that?” posed Malema.

Even with having been faulted by Ruto’s supporters, Malema said he would delve into the Kenyan politics citing Nairobi as one of his many homes.

“This is my home and the politics here are mine, the same way the politics of South Africa are yours. Any destabilization in any corner of Africa affects us,” he said.
