President Ruto contemplates sending missionaries in North Rift region to talk to bandits over the increasing insecurity.

Speaking during the re-election and installation of the moderator of the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA), Patrick Thegu Mutahi, Ruto said the banditry menace in North Rift could be solved through spiritual intervention.

The Head of State claimed that the insecurity problem had been escalating because inhabitants of the affected areas lack spiritual knowledge.

”We still need money for evangelism, kuna watu hawajafikiwa na neno la Mungu. Even the banditry problems in West Pokot, the biggest challenge is spiritual warfare,” Ruto said.

In addition, President Ruto asked the PCEA church to send more evangelists to the remote areas of Kenya that need spiritual nourishment.

”We want PCEA to send more missionaries into remotes areas of Kenya, because among the challenges in those areas is spiritual warfare. We need a spiritual army to deal with it. We can do everything as a government, but spiritual warfare requires a spiritual army.

Ruto’s remarks comes after on Monday he ordered the deployment of military in Chesogon to ensure all schools closed due to insecurity caused by bandits.

”I want to say this while I’m in West Pokot. In the next two days, the army will be in Chesogon to ensure the schools are built. They will be there to ensure the schools open next term, the children of those schools will be there,” Ruto stated.
