Ruto woos NARC party leader Charity Ngilu to Join the ruling party, UDA as merger plans persist.

The ruling United Democratic Alliance is still wooing other parties to join their proposed merger.

On Wednesday, UDA’s Secretay General Cleopas Malala said that the party will not hesitate to welcome the NARC party if it reaches out.

“People have the right to choose which party they want to join, even if the NARC party leader wants to join us here in UDA, we welcome her,” he said.

Insisting that if an opportunity arises, Charity Ngilu, the leader of the NARC party, will be welcomed “with open arms,” Malala said.

At the time, he was officially welcoming former members of the Kenya Africa National Union (KANU) to the UDA party.

Since Leader of the Opposition Raila Odinga’s defeat in the elections of August 2022, Ngilu has maintained a low profile.

Moreover, she hasn’t attended any of the Azimio protests against Ruto’s administration.

Malala went on to say that his goal was to advance the UDA party and that he had no desire to harm other political organizations.

“With numerous political parties in the country, we are not soliciting for other parties, but rather for their members. We welcome members from other parties to join our party if they choose to do so,” he noted.

The former Kakamega Senator highlighted that UDA’s objective was to attract individuals based on their personal choice, as that is what democracy entails.

Ruto received a major boost after six Kenya Kwanza affiliate parties folded to join UDA.

The parties: Umoja Na Maendeleo, Farmers Party, Chama Cha Mashinani, Chama cha Kazi, National Agenda Party Of Kenya, and Economic Freedom Party will now cease to exist.
