Ruto reshuffles board chairpersons of key state corporations as he continues to assert his authority in government.

President William Ruto has made changes to the leadership of several state corporations, appointing new chairpersons and revoking some of the existing ones.

Alfred Khang’ati was appointed by President Ruto to serve as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Nzoia Sugar Company Limited for a three-year term in a gazette notice dated February 17, 2023.

Khang’ati is a former Member of Parliament for Kanduyi Constituency.

Nzoia Sugar Company Limited (NSC) is one of the key players in Kenya’s sugar industry, serving over 45,000 farmers in Bungoma, Kakamega, Lugari and Malava.

The company has been facing financial challenges and operational inefficiencies, leading to delayed payments to farmers and low production.

President Ruto also appointed Samson Kipkoech to be the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Tourism Fund Board for a period of three years.

He replaces Alphonse Kioko, whose appointment was revoked by President Ruto.

The Tourism Fund Board is a state corporation established under Section 4(1) of The Tourism Act Cap 383 with the mandate to mobilize resources for sustainable development and promotion of tourism.
