Ruto’s UDA party wins majority seats in the Senate after bagging 24 seats across the country in just concluded elections

Both the Azimio and Kenya Kwanza coalitions have claimed to have clinched the highest number of seats at various elective levels in the just concluded elections.

During the Azimio One Kenya elected leaders meeting at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), Nairobi, held on Saturday, August 13, the coalition’s presidential running mate, Martha Karua, exuded confidence in the number of elective seats within their control.

Ruto’s UDA party is set to control the Senate after bagging a majority of the seats.

DP Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza Alliance (KKA) has gotten 24 senators compared to 23 of the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition.

United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has bagged the seats majorly from President Uhuru Kenyatta’s political bastion of Mt Kenya and Dr. Ruto’s backyard of Rift Valley.

William Ruto has also gotten one senate each from Kakamega, Marsabit, and Tana River Counties.

“It is now official; Kenya Kwanza controls the Senate. Thank you Kenyans for the trust,” Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen posted on his Twitter handle.

Before the election, Ruto had exuded confidence that he will control both the National Assembly and the Senate whether or not he won the presidency.
