Several people have been injured and property worth millions destroyed after a fire burnt down several houses in Tassia, Embakasi on Saturday, March 1 night.
In a statement, Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino called for prayers and support noting that the victims were enduring a harsh night in the cold.
“Pray for us as Fire is currently razing down houses at Tassia, Embakasi East. Property worth millions destroyed, children, Men, and women left homeless, forced to spend the night in the cold. What a sad night in Embakasi East,” Owino stated.
Firefighters were deployed to the scene and managed to contain the inferno although the fire had already destroyed a significant amount of property.
The injured were rushed to Mama Lucy Hospital in Nairobi for medical attention.
At the time of publishing, the cause of the Embakasi fire remained unknown.

The incident comes days after three children aged 6, 4, and 3 months died after a fire razed down eight houses in Gituamba area, Gitaru, Kiambu County.
Neighbors and rescuers rushed to the scene to help put out the inferno before it caught other houses.
However, after extinguishing the fire, the rescuers realized that three young children who were in one of the houses had been burned beyond recognition.
According to witnesses, the 6 and 4-year-old children died while trying to open the door in one of the rooms while the youngest three-month-old baby girl died in the bedroom.
