Several people shot dead inside Parliament

Several people have been shot in a fierce clash between anti-riot police officers and protesters in parliament.

Police were forced to open fire after the protesters began marching towards Parliament where lawmakers were voting to pass the controversial Bill.

According to the Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC), police officers manning the parliament buildings reportedly shot several protestors.

While revealing the horrific details, the commission condemned the killing terming it as unacceptable and a grave violation of human rights.

“Police have shot four protesters, as witnessed by KHRC, killing one. We strongly condemn the police killing. Such actions are unacceptable and constitute a grave violation of human rights,” the Kenya Human Rights Commission noted in a statement.

Hundreds of protestors gained entrance into parliament buildings despite heightened security around the premises.

Sounds of gunshots were heard from a distance as police intervened to contain the protestors who began pelting objects at the armed officers.
