Two men in Kipsapta village, Kuresoi North, in a bid to resolve their marital disputes agrees to swap their women over cheating allegation.

According to reports, the unprecedented event happened after the disappearance of Robert Kirui’s wife following a disagreement between them.

He later discovered that his wife had absconded with another man from the same village.

In an act of retaliation, Kirui decided to take the wife of the man who had eloped with his wife.

According to reports, both families, weary of the infidelity displayed by their respective wives, they mutually agreed to the arrangement.

In the agreement, the men agreed to swap wives but each father retained custody of their two daughters, aged below 10 years.

“When I realised that the man had decided to take my wife, I chose to take revenge by taking his wife, and his wife also agreed because we were both having problems with spouse infidelity,” said Kirui.

However, Nyumba Kumi chairperson David Rono condemned the two men’s actions, stating that it was a taboo in the Kalenjin community and demeaning to women.

Rono stated that a meeting will be held on April 1 to address the issue and provide a solution for the couples.

“As elders, we are disappointed by the rare occurrence of men exchanging wives in this village, a thing that is considered taboo among the Kalenjin community,” said Rono.
