Azimio lawkmaker Edwin Sifuna urges Ruto to come out and stop barricading himself in State House.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has dared president William Ruto to meet Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance leaders face-on instead of barricading himself at State House.

Speaking on Citizen TV on Thursday, March 30, 2023, Sifuna claimed that Ruto was hiding behind the police.

“Tell your president to stop barricading himself in State House if he wants us to come there, because why is he hiding behind the police? He has told us that we should face him mundu hu mundu (face to face),” Sifuna said.

The Azimio lawmaker further called on Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to step in front of the police and receive Azimio’s petition.

“This other pseudo-Mau Mau who calls himself a child of Mau Mau. He is hiding behind the police. If Rigathi can just come in front of the police to receive our petition we will be very happy,” Sifuna said.

“They wake up early to put up barricades to State House. These are people who are cowards, they are hiding behind the police,” he added.

Sifuna also stressed that Azimio protests would be peaceful without the presence of the police.

He said Azimio protesters only want to access the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) to dance and go away.

“Remove the police we will come into the KICC, we will do our dance around the statue of Kenyatta the way we were doing the other time and we were teargassed,” he said.
