The Selection Panel for Recruitment of Nominees for Appointment as Chairperson and Members of the National Land Commission has released the list of shortlisted candidates for the position of Chairperson and member  of the National Land Commission.

According to the schedule, ten candidates will face interviews on Wednesday, October 1 and Thursday, October 2, 2025.

On the first day, the panel will interview five candidates, including Dr Rebecca Kavutha Mutia from Kitui, Dr Abdikadir Oman Aden from Garissa, Gilbert William Opanga from Vihiga, Monicah Nanyumuk Chentrich from Nakuru and Abuga Kennedy Kaunda from Kisii.

On the second day, the interviews will feature Nelly Karimi Mbugua from Meru, Prof. Saeed Mutua Mwangi from Kitui, Dr Justa Wavinya Mwangi (PWD) from Embu, Dr Abdillahi Sagaf Alawy from Kwale and Dr Humphrey Kimani Njuguna from Murang’a.

The Selection Panel said the shortlist was made after reviewing applications submitted following a call published on 27th August 2025.

Another 51 persons have also been shortlisted to fill the eight NLC member positions. 

Interviews for the 51 will be held on diverse dates from October 3, October 6 to October 9. Others will be interviewed on October 13 and October 14, 2025. 

Members of the public with objections to the shortlisted candidates have been urged to submit a memorandum before September 30, 2025.

“Members of the public are invited to avail any credible information of interest relating to any of the shortlisted candidates through sworn affidavits to the Secretary/CEO via email nlc2025@publicservice.go.ke or hand delivered to the Office of the Secretary/CEO, Public Service Commission situated on the 4th floor Commission House, Harambe Avenue, Nairobi on or before 30th September, 2025.”
