Two people dead with property of unknown value destroyed in the night fire incident at Umoja 3 in Nairobi.

At least two people reportedly lost their lives on Thursday night after a fire broke out at Nairobi’s Umoja Three Estate. 

The two children aged four and five were alone in the house when the fire which eventually spread to adjacent buildings broke out around 9 pm.

According to reports, about 20 residential houses were destroyed while property of unknown value was also gutted. 

During the night incident, several shops and stalls were also destroyed. Victims of the tragedy were forced to spend their night in the cold.

Following the tragedy, a team of firefighters from the Nairobi County Disaster Management were immediately dispatched to help quell the situation.

In the footage shared online, clouds of smoke were captured billowing from the scene as the firefighters battled put out the inferno.

Meanwhile, a section of the residents were captured standing at a distance as they helplessly watched their property go up in flames.

While confirming the incident, area police officers revealed that the cause of the fire was yet to be established and that investigations had commenced to address the issue.

The latest incident comes barely two days after a mysterious fire razed down property of unknown value at a furniture shop located along Thika Road in Nairobi. 

According to witnesses, the Kasarani fire incident broke out in the mid-morning and went ahead to burn down property worth millions.

Nonetheless, a rescue operation was quickly launched with officers from the Kenya Red Cross and the Nairobi Disaster Management officials dispatched to the scene.

“A fire incident has been reported at Bed Palace along Thika Road. Response teams en route to the scene,” stated the Kenya Red Cross Society.
