Two KDF soldiers arrested after detonating grenades in a bar in Bomet following a confrontation.
Following a spectacular altercation in a pub in Sotik, Bomet County, on Saturday, four flash grenades were recovered and two Kenya Defence Forces troops were taken into custody.
According to the police report, they were found with four sound grenades, police aware of the incident said.
Locals had complained there were loud bangs at the Chebole trading center.
According to the police OB, one of the soldiers was on a weekend off while the other was on leave.
The report did not specify whether the two had consumed alcohol in the events leading to the detonation and whether there was any form of confrontation.
The report however detailed that the duo detonated two grenades that resulted in a loud bang.

“Today at around 0600 hours the chairman of Chebole Trading Center notified the police that there were 2 loud sounds suspected to be gunshots within the trading centre,” read part of the police report.
A search conducted in the bar recovered two grenade pins suspected to be from the grenades that caused the explosion in the November 10 incident.
“A further search was conducted on their bags and the four sound grenades were recovered amongst other personal effects,” police said.
The two KDF soldiers were detained at the local Mutarakwa police station and officials from the military police alerted to pick them up for action.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported when the grenades went off.
