Two people have been killed and houses torched at Taa Village between Pandanguo and Witu in Lamu county.
The suspected Al Shabaab assailants attacked the village at around 8 pm but were repulsed by Kenya Police Reservists after a heavy gunfight.
A multi-agency security squad has been stationed nearby after they managed to flee into the Boni forest.
Regional commissioner John Elungata acknowledged the incident and stated that police are pursuing the perpetrators while pleading with the populace to assist local security personnel on the ground.

“The situation is calm, we have officers patrolling the area and we would like to ask members of the public to tell us what they know to help us in our investigations as we continue hunting them,” said Elungata.
According to sources, the attackers were aiming for the KPS officers’ weapons but were met with surprising force, which allowed them to flee.
The assault occurs just a week after a police vehicle was targeted by suspected Al Shabaab militants between Hayley Lapset Camp and Garissa.
The police vehicle was heading to Garissa when it stepped on an improvised explosive device.
Then they launched another attack using a rocket-propelled grenade and opened fire, killing one civilian and two police officers.
The vehicle attached to Galmagalla Police Station, Bura East operating along the LAPSSET corridor was also set ablaze by the assailants.
