Uhuru and Ruto were in constant communication prior to the general elections-insider
Uhuru and Ruto were in constant communication prior to the general elections despite the bad blood displayed in public according to Ex-MP
According to former nominated senator Paul Njoroge, Uhuru Kenyatta wasn’t on talking terms with insiders fighting William Ruto.
Speaking to local media, Njoroge revealed Uhuru Kenyatta was not leading the machinations to sabotage his then-deputy William Ruto.
Despite their history of animosity, the former senator cleared the former president of any role in the alleged plots to sabotage Ruto’s presidential campaign.
He does, however, acknowledge that in the lead-up to the General Election on August 9, agents working for Uhuru were determined to thwart Ruto’s ambitions for power.
The former senator claims that Uhuru resisted their efforts to con him into deliberately frustrating his deputy by courting them.
“In the last months before the elections, he (Uhuru) was not on good terms with those who fought Ruto in the government. He could not communicate with them. He never picked up their calls,” says Njoroge.
Despite their political hatred, which they had frequently shown in public, Njoroge claimed that Uhuru and Ruto were always in communication by virtue of their being president and deputy president, respectively.
“It is weird if you tell me they were not talking. That is a deputy president and the other one is the president. I don’t think some of us are that foolish. We know there must have been communication, Signs would tell,” said Njoroge.
Despite the unexpected eventuality as far as the outcome of the presidential vote is concerned, Njoroge believes Ruto won fairly.
“The person who won is William Ruto. He is now the president, and we must support that,” he says.
