Uhuru's Cousin Kung’u Muigai dragged into Wamatangi impeachment saga amid reports of fall out between the Governor and President Ruto

Uhuru’s Cousin Kung’u Muigai dragged into Wamatangi impeachment saga amid reports of fall out between the Governor and President Ruto.

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s cousin Kung’u Muigai was on Monday brought in to settle the political differences between Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi and elected politicians from the county as the political tiff continues to escalate.

This comes amid alleging that Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi had a fallenout with President William Ruto over land.

The allegations first surfaced on September 1, claiming President Ruto had taken on Wamatangi for refusing to hand over two plots of property.

The reports also alleged that government operatives pressed the first-term governor to transfer land previously controlled by a global fruit processing corporation.

The reports of a fallout were fanned by a prior video in which the governor was caught on tape saying that he will not release the land to well-connected persons.

“The parcels of land I am holding on to in Kiambu, I said none will be grabbed by anyone. You have stolen a lot of parcels and you can not do that any longer.” Wamatangi in the video.

The Kiambu county boss went on to say that the land would be used for socio-economic development and would not be sold to rich people.

Speaking to journalists, Uhuru Kenyatta’s cousin Kung’u Muigai who is chairman of the Kikuyu Council of Elders, Kiama Kìa Ma, revealed that he had directed elders to bring the warring factions together.

He explained that he had caught wind of a plan by the MCAs to impeach the Governor and is now working towards thwarting it, saying such a move will derail service delivery in the county.

“I heard there was a conflict between the governor and MCAs. I have sent elders to go and sit with them as we do not want conflict in Kiambu,” Muigai told the press.

He exuded confidence that the elders will help Wamatangi and the MCAs solve their political differences amicably.

Muigai regretted the situation that Kiambu County finds itself in, every political cycle, warning that such leadership wrangles are the antithesis of what the leaders were elected to do.

The elders accepting the task before them revealed that their mission was to make sure that all elected leaders served their full five-year term.

This comes after Kiambu Senator Karungo Wa Thang’wa warned politicians and influential people against interfering with the MCAs mandate in oversighting the Governor and his administration.

Senator Karungo wa Thang’wa had claimed that the Governor Wamatangi is at loggerheads with President William Ruto and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua over a raft of issues including his leadership style and relationship with UDA politicians.

“When the President was in Githurai he read him a riot act. The President told him you came to this party very late and if you cannot work towards the manifesto of Kenya Kwanza then you are not part of us. He told him to go read the manifesto maybe he came so late and did not understand everything,” Karungo claimed.

The MCAs have accused the first-term governor of sidelining them in the running of the county.
